Shouldv'e Couldv'e Wouldv'e

This has to do with life. Today I was saddened to hear from one of my colleague and close friend that his parent is suffering from terminal illness. During the conversation he mentioned that there are no guarantees that you will live for X years. You have to live life as though today is your last day. How true. Come to think of it every day is my last day because it ain't coming back. Time, in its merciless linear uni-directional progression, will only make me older. One day gone, another day gone and it adds up to years and before you know it life passes by. When we are facing our final moments, its terrible if we are facing "Should have, could have, would have" moment because nothing is going to make us go back and change things. Nothing.

Follow your heart, do your own thing and there won't be any regrets.

May my friend and his family find peace in this tragic and troubled times.

Comments:
A director of IT that I worked for not too long ago met with an accident. That day it was gloomy and none of us knew what was coming and he was not present for the early AM meeting which was very unusual. He fell off his motor bike on the freeway riding @ 60 mph on the way to work. He was immediately flown to the hospital’s trauma center where they found his brain was swelling and he was in a coma. After the necessary medical procedures they regained his consciousness, but found that his speech and memory were impacted. He had to relearn everything. Just imagine that! This is person who was the best communicator I have ever known. Not an Indian, but led his life like a true Gandhi disciple.

Even at a moment of great danger he made the right choices for the welfare of the other person. Later we found out that he was trying to save this other car from getting hit and instead was the victim. He didn’t know that it could have been the last minute for him on this earth. He has recovered but is not functioning full capacity. From that day I try not to procrastinate or no more could’ve, would’ve, etc. He was the best manager and role model that I ever worked for.
